The Internet of Things and People Research Centre will organize a session at the 20th annual congress of the European College of Sport Science, ECSS. The congress will be arranged in Malmö on June 24-27, 2015.
The session theme is “Internet of Sports: Augmenting sports technology for performance and pleasure”, and it will host distinguished researchers such as Stina Nylander of the Swedish Institute of Computer Science and Joe Marshall of Mixed Reality Lab at the University of Nottingham.

The Knowledge Foundation has awarded Malmö University SEK 36 million for the research project Internet of Things and People. According to the Foundation, “the application falls into a current and interesting area” and “it is considered to be highly relevant to industry and there is clear commitment by the companies”.

The new research centre, The Internet of Things and People Research Centre, IOTAP, which began operating in January, will be headed by Professor Paul Davidsson. The appointment was made following a recent meeting of the Malmö University executive management.
The Internet of Things and People Research Centre will focus on research into the development of products and services based on connected devices, especially from the user perspective. There is already an excellent research tradition in this field at the University and it will now be brought to a new level.

Rektor har nyligen beslutat att inrätta ett nytt forskningscentrum: Internet of Things and People. Forskningen inom området är högaktuell och har stor potential. Tanken är att den nya centrumbildningen ska starta till årsskiftet 2013/2014.
Internet of Things handlar om att olika föremål i vår omgivning som i allt högre utsträckning blir uppkopplade mot internet. Prognoser säger att det kommer att finnas omkring 50 miljarder enheter som är anslutna till internet 2020. Det finns de som menar att Internet of Things har potential att förändra vår värld mer än vad internet har gjort.
